Paws & Relax LLC — Full Grooming Policies
Our Approach
At Paws & Relax, grooming is slow, intentional, and relationship-based. We specialize in anxious, reactive, senior, and misunderstood dogs. Every appointment is evaluated individually, with your dog’s emotional and physical safety as the priority.
New Clients & Special Needs
Some dogs may not be suitable for grooming services depending on age, health, or behavior. These considerations will be discussed prior to your appointment so expectations are clear and no dog is placed in an unsafe situation.
Please notify us in advance if your dog requires special accommodations, handling considerations, or additional time.
Please disclose all medical conditions, including heart issues, mobility limitations, seizures, or respiratory concerns. Dogs with serious or unstable medical conditions may be declined or limited in services for safety reasons.
Fleas, Ticks & Lice
To protect all dogs and maintain a clean environment:
- If fleas or lice are discovered at check-in, the appointment will end and a cancellation fee may apply
- If fleas are discovered during grooming, a flea bath and decontamination fee ($20–$50) will be added and your dog will be sent home once stabilized
- If lice are discovered, grooming will stop immediately and a decontamination fee will apply
- Ticks will be removed if found, and grooming may continue at our discretion. A veterinary visit will be recommended.
All situations are handled case-by-case with transparency and communication.
Anxiety & Emotional Stress
For dogs prone to anxiety or over-stimulation, we strongly encourage extra exercise prior to the appointment.
We do not rush or force dogs through grooming. If a dog becomes emotionally overwhelmed, services may be paused or ended for their wellbeing.
Clients are charged only for services completed.
Aggressive or Unsafe Behavior
For everyone’s safety, grooming will stop if a dog becomes aggressive, panicked, or unsafe to handle. No grooming service is worth emotional or physical harm. Partial charges may apply based on time and services completed.
Medicated Pets
If your dog is on anxiety or sedation medication, please provide:
- Veterinary prescription
- Dosage instructions
- Dog’s name
Some medicated dogs require special handling, which may include an additional fee. Advance notice is required.
Age & Senior Dogs
- Puppies must be at least 16 weeks old and current on vaccinations
- Senior dogs or dogs under veterinary care may be limited in services
- A medical release may be required
We prioritize comfort, stability, and dignity over cosmetic perfection.
